When taking really heavy cuts with high helix two flute end mills I find they can pull down in the collet holders so I use solid holders and grind a small flat on the shank of the tool. Also sometimes I find that a long tool will be more likwly to chatter in a collet than in a solid holder. I think both have their uses.
