In the mill design, a scale-up model was developed to link mill operation and design parameters with power draw and grinding rate of the tumbling ball mills using DEM simulations. It was found that particle-ball contacts contribute most directly for grinding performance and the presence of excessive ground particles could impede motions of balls.
