But I've gotten so used to thinking strategically I'm not sure I'll benefit. There are quite a few of us here who admit to having a drill/mill and do good work with it. I like mine. I bought it super cheap and it fits my budget, space and pocket book. And at 3x's the mass of the mini mill can actually get something done.

Hi I'm new to Hobby Machinist, I have both a 7x10 Grizzly mini lathe and a Micro Mark brushed motor (but with a belt drive mod) mini mill. Unfortunately I just moved and when I went to use the mini mill the power came on along with the cooling fan, but when I turned the pot to spin up the spindle nothing happened and the yellow light turned on.

Yeah, you have to be careful on the specs. Most of the mini-mills are shipped with 16tpi leads not 20tpi. My grizzly mini-mill came with 16tpi leads and I bought the 20tpi upgrade from LittleMachineShop. Micro-mark went to extra trouble to carry imperial units with better specs than most. You may want to look at the one carried by Harbor Freight.

Hello, Eddyde. The blades are 150mm x 50mm and about 0.50 in. thick. I need to mill the 150mm side to 45 degrees. I did some research and amazingly found on Google that wood chipper blades are usually 8% chromium work steel, tool steel, or SB chipper knife steel.
